A user is taking an online quiz and when he/she proceeds to the next question, a pop-up message saying "Cannot contact server, try again shortly" appears.

Schoolbook users running on either Chrome, Firefox, Safari or IE.

The pop-up is mostly due to a faulty connection, or that you might have been disconnected from your internet connection.

Make sure that all cables attached to your device (if using LAN or USB mobile routers) or Wi-Fi router are properly connected.

Also, for Windows users, try repairing your connection by right-clicking on the internet icon at the taskbar and selecting Troubleshoot problems.

Do not close your browser.

In this case, your online quiz session will automatically expire and: (1) in an untimed quiz, the session is paused and you may resume once a stable connection is achieved; (2) however, in a timed quiz, answers are automatically submitted. Contac your class professor regarding this matter so that he/she may give you another attempt.
